DILATED CAPILLARIES

Capillaries are the smallest, finest blood vessels in our body, responsible for microcirculation. Because they’re so delicate, they can dilate easily. It’s fairly common and comes from a weakening capillary network. Dilated capillaries is also  known as broken capillaries, spider veins and medically known as telangiectasia

WHAT CAUSES DILATED CAPILLARIES

There are many different causes of broken capillaries. Most commonly, fair-skinned people develop them on areas that have chronic sun damage. Pregnant women and people with any of the following conditions are more likely to develop telangiectasias:

  • rosacea
  • liver disease
  • chronic systemic or topical corticosteroid use

Squeezing a pimple with too much force, intense microdermabrasion taking hot showers, being in cold, wintery air, eating spicy foods or drinking alcohol may also cause the dilated capillaries
